Young Composers Competition
Young composers are special, and the NYAE understands how important it is to encourage young people in the new music world. As a result, the NYAE has created an annual Young Composers Competition. This national contest selects a single work from a gifted student and performs it on our annual Tribeca New Music Festival here in NYC. The student receives a first-rate performance, a CD recording of the concert, and exposure to the New York City media and concert scene.

The New York Composers Meetup
The NYAE strongly believes in the power of the individual to be a creative force in our culture. Join us as we organize and support the New York Composers Meetup. For us, music is not so much about genre, it's about sensibility. In keeping with our philosophy of breaking down barriers and establishing new ties, the meetup is an opportunity to meet other local composers, songwriters, performers, lyricists, and artists of all stripes--classical, pop, jazz, et al. Members have the opportunity to play examples of their work, explore and discuss relevant issues and ideas of creativity, performance, collaboration, method, technology, etc. If you're interested in growing, networking and improving as an artist, this is definitely something you should check out.
